Who is the Owner of Punjab Kings (PBKS)?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) decided to launch the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2007. The eight franchises representing eight different cities in India were auctioned off in Mumbai in February 2008.

In that auction, the Panjab franchise was purchased by the Dabur group’s Mohit Burman (46%), the Wadia group’s Ness Wadia (23%), Preity Zinta (23%), and Saptarshi Dey of the Dey & Dey Group (minor stake). The group had to spend a total of $76 million to acquire this franchise.

The franchise is now jointly owned by Mohit Burman (Dabur), Ness Wadia (Wadia Group), Preity Zinta (PZNZ Media), and Karan Paul (Apeejay Surendra Group). Currently, Satish Menon is the designated CEO of the Punjab Kings team.

Mohit Burman (Dabur):

Dabur India Limited is an Indian multinational consumer goods company. The company was founded by SK Burman and is headquartered in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Dabur is one of the best manufacturers of Ayurvedic and natural healthcare products in India. Mohit Barman is a director of Dabur India Limited, he owns a 46% stake in Punjab Kings.

Ness Wadia (Bombay Dyeing):

Ness Nusli Wadia is an Indian businessman. He is the Non-Executive / Promoter Director of Bombay Dyeing, the flagship company of the Wadia Group. He is a co-owner of Punjab Kings, currently holding a 23% stake in the franchise.

The brand value of this franchise has increased over the years. But unfortunately in 2020, their brand value decreased by 11.3% compared to 2019 due to the Covid pandemic.

In other words, in 2020, their brand value decreased to 318 crores. In 2021 the brand value of the Punjab Kings team was around $36 Million which is around 275 crore and for 2022 the brand value was $45 Million which is around 370 crore.
