Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Monday (August) announced a 17-member provisional squad for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, starting from Thursday, August 12. This series will be the first series for both teams in the new cycle of the World Test Championship (2021-2023).
The West Indies cricket selection committee has recalled pacer Chemar Holder and middle-order batsman Shamarh Brooks for the Test series.
Holder made his Test debut in New Zealand last year but has not been seen in the squad since. He is returning to the Test squad after almost a year of recovering from an injury.
Brooks last played in New Zealand and has been called up again after scoring an impressive century in last week’s Best vs. Best Four-Day match.
On the other hand, two experienced players, left-arm Darren Bravo and fast bowler Shannon Gabriel will not be in the upcoming two-match series against Pakistan.
Roger Harper, Lead Selector of the Senior West Indies Men’s Team said:
The West Indies will play two Tests against Pakistan in the Betway Test series. Both matches of this series will be played at Sabina Park. The first Test match will be held on August 12-16 and the second Test match will be held on August 20-24.
