2. IPL 2009 – Matthew Hayden (Chennai Super Kings):

In the second season of the IPL, again an Aussie, Matthew Hayden won the orange cap. He averaged 52 and scored 572 runs at a strike rate of 144.81. He played for the Chennai Super Kings that year.

3. IPL 2010 – Sachin Tendulkar (Mumbai Indians):

IPL 2010 was the first season when any Indian won the Orange Cap. The then Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar had a great IPL season with the bat this year. In 2011, Universe boss Chris Gayle own the Orange Cap with 608 runs from 12 innings at an incredible strike rate of 183.13. Gayle hit 2 hundred and 3 fifty. He played for Bangalore this season.

5. IPL 2012 – Chris Gayle (Royal Challengers Bangalore):

The West Indies superstar won the back-to-back Orange Caps in the tournament. Gayle continued his great form the following year and won the Orange Cap in this season. This year he has scored 733 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 160.74.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner currently holds the record for winning the most number of orange caps in the tournament. He was the highest run-getter in 2015. He scored 562 runs in 14 innings with a strike rate of 156.54.

12. IPL 2019 – David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad):

This time a young batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad won the orange cap. He was the opening batsman of CSK and the highest run-scorer in the 2021 IPL. He has scored 635 runs in 16 matches at an average of 45.35 and a strike rate of 136.26.
