Just then, on Saturday (May 29, 2021), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the remaining matches of the VIVO IPL 2021 would be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided in a special general meeting that the incomplete part of the Indian Premier League will be held in the UAE in September and October. Considering the rainy season in India in September and October, BCCI has decided to hold the remaining matches of the IPL in the UAE.
Because due to the compact schedule of the Indian team, it is not possible to start the IPL before September or October.
According to a report, the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will be divided into 7 double matches, 13 singles matches and 4 play-offs.

Venues of 2nd phase of IPL 2021 in UAE:
There are three stadiums in the UAE, Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will be played across these three venues.
However, the good news for visitors is that the BCCI has announced that vaccinated visitors will be allowed to watch the match at the stadium.
Of these three stadiums, Dubai International Cricket Stadium has a Visitors capacity of 25,000. The Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium has a capacity of 20,000 Visitors and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium has a capacity of 16,000.
Starting date of the 2nd phase of IPL 2021 in UAE:
The BCCI has so far not announced a schedule or starting date for the IPL 2nd phase, the reason being the 2021 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021 is scheduled from 28th August to 19th September. Since the BCCI wants the rest of the IPL to start on September 19. That’s why the BCCI wants the CPL to be held 10 days in advance so that all Caribbean’s and other cricketers can be present in the 2nd-phase of the IPL 2021.
But now the BCCI has announced the start dates and IPL 2021 new schedule officially.
According to the new schedule, the 2nd phase of IPL will start with the match of CSK vs MI on 19 September and the final will be on 15th October in Dubai.

The biggest obstacle in starting the IPL in the UAE:
However, the biggest obstacle in resuming the tournament is the lack of foreign players.
The England and Wales Cricket Board has stated that they will not allow English cricketers to play the rest of the IPL matches as there is a T-20 world cup right after that.
It is being heard that some players from Australia like pat Cummins, David Warner also will not play the rest of the IPL.
Other cricketers, including New Zealand’s Ken Williamson and Kyle Jamieson, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, are unlikely to travel to the UAE in the second half of IPL 2021.
