BCCI announces 15 men squad for Zimbabwe ODI series, Virat rested again, Deepak Chahar returns

IND vs ZIM 2022: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian team in this series.

Many expected KL Rahul to lead the side in Zimbabwe ODIs, But he was not included in the squad for the upcoming Zimbabwe ODI series. Now he is expected to be brought back into the squad for the Asia Cup in UAE.

Also, KL Rahul has been forced to miss the ongoing T20I series against West Indies due to injury and the BCCI medical team advised him to rest for another week.

Meanwhile, several reports said that Virat Kohli will be included in the tour to regain his form. However, the selectors have decided to rest him keeping in mind the upcoming Asia Cup.

However, Deepak Chahar made his comeback to the Indian team for the ODI series in Zimbabwe after a break of nearly six months, as he was undergoing treatment for a back injury for the past six months.

Washington Sundar is going to return to the team after a long time. Also, Rahul Tripathi has been called up to the Indian ODI team for the first time.

Along with Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have been included as spinners in the squad.

Besides, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna and Mohd Siraj got a chance in the team as fast bowlers.

All the three ODIs of India tour of Zimbabwe will be played in Harare, with the first one scheduled on August 18. The next two ODIs are on August 20 and 22; the Asia Cup starts on August 27.

Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Deepak Chahar.
